Dog Skin Allergies, along with ear infections, are among the most common health problems in dogs. They are difficult to diagnose as symptoms can be common across many diseases.
As there is usually no cure, Allergies need to be constantly managed. Most Allergies are seasonal and the inhalant type, such as tree pollen. If you suspect your dog has a skin allergy, check to see whether it has any of the symptoms listed below.
Symptoms of Dog Skin Allergies
Generally, if a dog has an allergy it will be apparent through excessive itching and/or visual skin problems. Signs your dog has an allergy include:
Rubbing its face on the ground or carpet Chewing on its limbs Hair loss Mutiliated/red/sore skin Nasal or eye discharge Skin Allergy Testing For Dogs
There are two types of testing that can be undertaken for dog skin allergies:-
Blood Tests are taken to check for antibodies in the dog’s blood that have been triggered by antigens. Intradermal Skin Testing is where a small amount of antigen is injected into an area of the dog’s skin and observed to determine whether it causes an Allergic Reaction. This is the most common form of testing and has a high success rate for identification of Dog Skin Allergies.
Alternatively, and more specifically if a Food Allergy is suspected, systematic elimination of items from a dog’s diet or environment may help uncover the underlying causes of the allergies.
Dog Skin Allergy Treatments Avoidance – Keep your dog out of grassy fields (keep your lawn mowed short), keep your dog indoors during the pollen season, use humidifiers and keep pets away from you when you are cleaning an area and it is likely to stir a bit of dust (eg vaccuuming). Topical Therapy - This involves using “external medications” such as shampoos, rinses and creams for Allergy Relief. Antihistamines – Apparently these are only about 30% successful for dogs. It is usually recommended to include fatty acids such as Omega 3 in your dog’s diet when combined with this treatment to improve the chances of success. Steroids – I wouldn’t recommend this option except as a last resort. The side effects are numerous.
It is important to note that each dog responds differently to different treatments, but it is wise to be aware Dog Skin Allergies so that you can ask the right questions of your vet and not blindly accept a recommendation of “drugs” to fix a problem that may be eliminated by natural or environmental means.
3 Day Diet
The 3 Day Diet is essentially a meal plan for 3 days. The claim that you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days, is inaccurate because we are all different, and have different caloric requirements!
Simply put - if you canât imagine yourself still eating like this in say, a years time, then itâs not a sustainable diet. Judging by the meal plan, the 3 day diet is a very low calorie diet (VLCD), but retains a reasonable balance of fats, carbs, and proteins.
The 3 Day Diet is one of the most popular short-term fad diets around today. Many people adopt the diet to try and achieve short-term weight loss. However, unfortunately most people simply gain the weight back on again.
The 3 Day Diet is simply a low calorie diet (as can be seen by the meal plan). There is nothing magical - no mystical chemical reaction that goes on (as some seem to think). Weight loss is due to a sudden drop in calories - some of this may be fat - but most will be from water loss.
3 Day Diet Meal Plan
This diet is not recommended and should never be used for more than 3 days. This kind of diet is often used by those who experience âyo-yoâ weight - it is not a good habit to get into.(yes, there are always rules when dieting - particularly when fad dieting)
- Drink a minimum of 4 glasses of water or diet beverages per day.
- Any of the following may be used to your heartâs content: salt, pepper, vinegar, lemon, herbs, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, mustard and catsup.
Day 1 of the 3 Day Diet Menu:
Breakfast: Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute + 1/3 grapefruit + 1 piece of dry toast topped with 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter
Lunch: 1/2 cup of tuna in spring water + 1 piece of dry toast + coffee/tea with sugar substitute
Dinner: 3 ounces of lean meat + 1 cup of green beans + 1 cup of carrots + 1 apple + 1 cup of vanilla ice cream
Â
Â
Day 2 of the 3 Day Diet Menu
Breakfast:Â Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute + 1 egg + 1 slice of dry toast + 1/2 banana
Lunch: 1 cup of cottage cheese or tuna in spring water + 8 saltine crackers
Dinner: 2 franks + 1 cup of cabbage + 1/2 cup of carrots + 1/2 banana + 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream
Day 3 of the 3 Day Diet Menu
Breakfast: Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute + 5 saltine crackers + 1 ounce of cheese + 1 apple
Lunch: 1 boiled egg + 1 slice of dry toast + coffee/tea with sugar substitute
Diet Dinner: 1 cup EACH of: tuna in spring water, carrots, cauliflower, melon + 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream
Some of the dietâs descriptions include commentary that indicates that the dietâs success is due to the precise combination of foods, which increases a personâs metabolic rate. There is no scientific evidence that this occurs. In actuality, ant weight loss experienced on the diet occurs because the dieter is limited to 1,000 calories a day. Although the diet maintains it is to be followed for only 3 days in a row, the initial weight loss will not be maintained if normal eating patterns are resumed.
Most authorities view this as a fad diet, rather than a healthy eating plan that can be followed for life.

Are you looking for natural cures for allergies? Did you know that the most common cause of severe or chronic allergies is actually linked to the health of your digestive system. Its been well documented that those with health digestive systems are less prone to allergy production than those who are toxic. Find out in this article what the best cure for allergies is and why it will prove to provide the greatest relief.
Why do I have Allergies
There are many reasons, from genetic inheritances to expose to toxins that create immune dysfunction and then allergies as a result. Although in virtually every case of allergies there is often a connection to poor dietary habits or toxicity in the digestive system, that once removed creates a tremendous relief to most allergies. Part of the reason for this is the fact that approximately 80% of all your histamine receptors are in your digestive tract. These are the spots where it is determined if an allergic response is necessary, you see your body creates anti-gens to allergies in an effort to protect your body, in the same way it would protect you from a virus or dangerous bacteria. The problem is many peoples immune systems become over-excited and as a result respond to just about anything.
How to Cure Allergies Permanently
The best way to solve allergies has been to target the digestive system and effectively clean it out. In almost all cases a fungus is the root cause of the disturbance that creates the excessive histamine response, this fungus is known as candida. When effectively removed from the body your immune system is able to return to normal and you will find that you are far less sensitive to most things and many allergies just completely go away all together. The best idea is to take a candida test to see if you are at risk and then treat it accordingly.

Alternative Remedies for Allergies and its related problem
An allergy is an abnormal reaction of the immune system to substances that cause no symptoms in most people. One in eight people have one or more allergies, and allergic conditions tend to run in families. Many common conditions such as hay fever, asthma, eczema and are caused by allergic reactions.
Allergic responses are triggered by the immune system, whose function is to recognize foreign proteins (antigens), such as bacteria and viruses and produce antibodies to fight them. The immune system also sensitizes the lymphocytes (white blood cells) to interact with the antigens to destroy them.
In allergy, the immune system mistakes harmless substances (allergens) to antigens and antibodies and sensitized lymphocytes ways to combat them. For example, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), allergy is the result of breathing in allergens such as dust, pollen, dust mites or house. Allergies can also be caused by skin exposure to chemicals, or an adverse reaction to certain foods.
There are several mechanisms involved in allergies, hypersensitivity reactions and are also called. Most common allergies are caused by type 1 hypersensitivity reactions, which cause immediate symptoms. The allergen triggers the immune system to produce antibodies called immunoglobulin E (IgE), which coat mast cells present in the lungs and airways, skin and stomach. Once activated the mast cells release powerful substances, including prostaglandins and histamine, which cause immediate symptoms and family. An adverse reaction can occur within minutes, or develop over several hours. Typical symptoms include the eyes and swollen lips, tingling in the mouth, sneezing, skin rashes, red watery eyes, runny nose, abdominal pain and distension, diarrhea and vomiting. In a severe allergic reaction to a sudden drop in blood pressure can occur, resulting in anaphylactic shock, life-threatening.
If you suspect an allergy see a doctor to help with diagnosis. Firstly, whether any other members of wheat and wheat products are common allergy triggers in your family suffers from allergies (asthma, hay fever, eczema). In addition, a diary of your symptoms and try to detect what food, substances, or situations trigger your symptoms.
Some doctors will arrange diagnostic tests for allergy research. The usual test patches soaked with substances suspected to cause allergies are recorded for the skin (usually on the back). Alternatively, the substances can be injected just below the surface of the skin reactions are then monitored to identify the allergens. When the stains are removed from the allergy-producing substances leave an inflamed red area (the same happens in places of itchy skin). The test is not infallible, and red areas may occur with substances to which you are not allergic. With suspicion of exclusion diet may be suggested.
If you suspect a food allergy or intolerance in a child, seek help from your doctor or dietitian before excluding food. A restricted diet for children can leave them out of essential nutrients for growth and health.

As the old year comes to a close and everyone begins to look forward to the beginning of a New Year, many people are also anticipating the beginning of their New Yearâs resolutions. For numerous individuals, New Yearâs resolutions will involve vows to cut back on their food intake, get on a diet and exercise regimen and drop at least a few pounds. The question that hangs in the air for those who are anticipating the start of a new diet lies in exactly which diet might happen to be right for them and which diet holds the key to helping them lose the most weight.
Certainly, there are numerous diets available and it seems like every few months a new diet or eating plan has emerged to become the new successful diet rage. Is it possible that all the âpopularâ diets can help you lose weight or are there certain diets that can help you lose more weight than others?
This is the question that a group of researchers set out to answer recently. Over a period of two months, 160 individuals were monitored closely as they followed a supervised program. The varying factor among all 160 program participants was that they were allowed to choose whichever diet suited their fancy. Researchers waited and watched in anticipation to learn which diet or diets would prove to be most successful.
What they learned at the conclusion of the study proved to be quite interesting. The data they collected not only helped them to learn more about which diet programs tend to be more successful in terms of total weight loss but also which diet programs more individuals were more likely to stick with for long term weight loss and maintenance.
While the study participants were allowed to choose their favorite diet plan, most participants opted for one of the following: Atkins, Weight Loss, Ornish and the Zone. Even though initial data was conducted after just two months, researchers continued to study the remaining participants. They discovered that after a period of time more than half of those participants who opted for diet plans that focused on low carbs and high fat, such as the Atkins plan, dropped out. Additionally, approximately the same percentage of individuals who chose the Ornish plan, which focuses on low fat and high carb vegetarian foods, also quit their diets. Weight Watchers participants fared moderately better, with about two-thirds of that groupâs participants sticking with it. The Zone participants showed similar results.
So, which diet plans performed best overall in terms of total weight loss? Surprisingly, they all performed about the same. Those individuals participating in the Ornish plan who were able to stick with their diet for the entire year achieved a weight loss rate of about 6%; the highest of all groups. Atkins came in at about 4%, with Weight Watchers and the Zone performing at an average of 5% weight loss. Health risk factors related to obesity were an entirely different matter; however. In terms of heart disease risk, Weight Watchers participants decreased their risk by 15%, while other diet plans hovered in the 12% range. The Ornish diet plan participants, who showed a higher overall weight loss, showed a lower decrease in risk of heart disease, at just 7%.
Overall; however, researchers concluded that in the end, there is no one magic diet. If youâre planning to resolve to lose weight in the New Year, your best strategy is still the same regardless of which diet plan you ultimately choose. Eat sensibly, cut back on portions, drink plenty of water, participate in a moderate exercise routine and find a diet buddy to support you in your weight loss goals.
Allergies affect the health and well-being of millions of people worldwide on a daily basis. While allergy symptoms are generally worse during the fall and spring seasons, people with severe allergies may suffer year around.
We will discuss 10 primary causes of allergies in the home and methods you can use right now to control them or even eliminate them. Your indoor home environment is the one place you have control over and with the proper knowledge, a home can be your haven.
Animal dander. Many people have at least one family pet of some sort. However, dogs or cats can create havoc for allergy sufferers. Dogs and cats can shed skin flakes just like humans but their skin flakes actually have an oily component to it thus making it dander. In most cases, a person with a dander allergy is sensitive to the protein of the dander and can have upper respiratory symptoms when they breathe it in or even skin rashes when exposed to it. Bacteria. Bacteria is everywhere in the indoor and outdoor environment but it is bacteria particles indoors which can causes a host of upper respiratory symptoms in a person with chronic allergies. The primary breeding ground for bacteria particles is a vacuum cleaner bag. Thousands of new bacteria particles can grow everyday in a vacuum cleaner bag. A standard vacuum with a low efficient paper bag will actually circulate these new bacteria particles into the air each time the vacuum is used. Dust mites. Dust mites are most definitely in the top 3 of all allergens found in the home and are also a common cause of asthma symptoms in the home. They feed on human skin flakes as well as animal dander and produce microscopic fecal matter wherever they exist. Just as animal dander, an allergy sufferer is allergic to the protein found in the fecal matter and not the dust mites themselves. Foods. It is believed that most people on earth have at least one food that they are allergic to. There are literally hundreds of foods which are known to cause allergic symptoms. Food allergies are known to change and will usually get better as we age. However, persons with severe chronic allergies can have them their entire lives. Fragrances. Fragrances from pesticides and perfumes are the most common of these type of allergens. A fragrance is one of the few allergens which can actually create a reaction from just the odor itself. Insect stings and dead insect parts. While most people know someone who is allergic to an insect sting; most persons do not know that breathing in dead insect parts may also cause allergic symptoms. If an insect dies indoors, it will dry out and turn to particle matter in a few weeks time. These insect particles can become airborne and breathed in by an allergy sufferer. Just as other organic allergens, the protein found in the particles is what actually causes allergy reactions. Latex. Latex is a natural substance made from a type of rubber tree. A latex allergy is normally found in the healthcare workplace but can be found in the home with the use of latex based kitchen gloves. Eliminating a latex allergy is as simple as disposing of all latex based products found in the home. Medications. Medication allergies are normally a synergistic effect between other pharmaceutical or over-the-counter drugs. A physicians desk reference or drug manufacturer instructions should be read completely prior to taking any medications. Sometimes interactions are found out following the printing of such instructions and manufacturer web sites should be consulted on a regular basis for new interactions. Molds. We have all been exposed to common molds from childhood since they are found throughout the outdoor environment. They become a problem for allergy sufferers when they invade the indoor environment and amplify on a breeding ground. Common indoor breeding grounds are air conditioning coil boxes, internally insulated supply air plenums and refrigerator drip pans. Pollen. Pollen are believed to be the number one allergen in the world and is the primary cause of seasonal allergies. Some pollens can create indoor allergies when they dry out into small particles and become airborne.
You can eliminate about half of the allergens discussed above by just discontinuing their use however; allergens which are in the form of airborne particles are not so easily controlled. A true H.E.P.A. (High Efficient Particle Air) vacuum cleaner or air purifier is the only scientifically proven devices known to reduce particle allergens from the indoor air. Regular use of H.E.P.A. devices can make a dramatic improvement in allergies while at home. The H.E.P.A. filter maintains its efficiency up to five years of life. I highly recommend that you consider only the highest quality units since there are many H.E.P.A. “type” and inexpensive low-quality H.E.P.A. products on the market.
Allergies developed by adults can be particularly hard to diagnose, but even more complex to children as some common symptoms may be also similar indications of other ailments. What makes it even harder is that children are often less capable of describing the symptoms, which leave the parents guessing. When such cases occur, it is always wise to immediately seek help of a trusted physician as they are the right authority to treat and provide medications. But to make it easier for you to see if your child is suffering from a certain allergy, here are five common symptoms related to allergies:
Sinus Infections
When your body overreacts to a certain allergen, it produces more body fluids, which in turn cause the sinus passages to be blocked. There are germs and bacteria that will be able to pass through these passages and as they leave, they also invade the tissues lining your sinus cavity. This causes infection, to which people who have allergies are more susceptible because their body’s immune system weakens from attempting to ward off foreign elements; and thus, causing the body to be less effective in fighting itself from germs. Sinus infections are usually serious conditions as they lead to nasal congestion, headaches, and fever.
Itching Nose
This is one of the most common allergy symptoms in children, and even in adults. The nose easily detects by becoming itchy if there are irritants or allergens in the environment. An itchy, stuffy nose can also clearly define that there are allergens and are more serious when the condition leads to cold. When your child is rubbing their nose which seems to resemble a salute action, this is already an indication of the allergy. In fact, this action has already been nicknamed as the “allergy salute.” Allergic reactions can be prevented by avoiding your child from being in an environment where there are any allergens. But in any case that they get it, the itchy nose can allow you to intervene whatever allergy your child is developing.
Chronic Cough
If the child is dry coughing and it does not seem to go away, this is chronic cough. Sometimes, there is phlegm, in which case can be an indication that there is an increased fluid present in their sinus cavity; thus, is an allergy symptom you should not ignore. Remember that chronic cough is not a condition but rather an allergy symptom; therefore, it is best to eliminate the source of cough for good rather than by just treating it. However, if the cough persists even after eliminating the source, the best course of action is to seek medical help as it can be a symptom of other conditions as well.
Allergic Eczema
If the skin comes in contact with irritants, it develops a skin condition called contact dermatitis. This is less serious. However, if it is persistent and certain physical conditions occur, this can be already associated to allergies. If there are rashes, dryness, redness, and itchiness in the folds of elbows, eyes, knees, and on the face, this is a condition requiring immediate attention, specifically medical treatments.
Dark-Eye Circles
This is usually called, Denni-Morgan lines. These are taken after two physicians’ names who have first established connection between the allergies and the relationship to dark eye circles. And this is also called the allergic shiners, because the discoloration or black, raccoon appearance under the eyes are the results of amplified blood flow occurring in the sinus area and not due to lack of sleep. The circles can also come with extra skin fold.
Over 10 million Americans suffer from allergies to pollen alone, which equals out to approximately one in every five people. Allergy suffers have a disorder in their immune system, this is what makes the symptoms. Many people are allergic to dust, pollen , nuts, and bumble bees and they are so sensitive to these allergies that the allergy could become life threatening and turn into an anaphlyactic reaction if it doesn’t get treated immediately.
In hot dry climates it has been found that there are more allergens floating around in the air, rather then humid and cooler climates.
Antihistamines, decongestants, and also nasal spray are medical treatments that help ward off some of the uncomfortableness of allergies. But any expert in the allergy field will say that the best way to treat the allergy is to stay away form it. Filters that are HEPA eliminate just about all dust, and pollen out of the air. If you happen to be allergic to smoke, look into an activated carbon filter, they work awesome.
Allergies can cause many different symptoms and they do effect lifestyles, ask anybody you know with an allergy. There are some new products that are now available to help with the allergy problem. So with this said if you are a suffer to seem that you will at least be able to find somebody that is ready to talk about the problem you both suffer from.
There are numerous reasons for allergies. Some folk are allergic to foods such as nuts, chocolate, and shellfish, some to drugs. Some allergies bring on contact dermatitis in the shape of hives or eczema.
75% of US citizens who suffer from allergies are allergic to ragweed. Ragweed is the late summer early fall equivalent of springtime allergies, both are brought on by pollination of flowers. Most medical pros suggest an over the counter decongestant or antihistamine to treat the symptoms related to seasonal allergies.
Keep animals off beds or any upholstered furniture as dander ( the allergen from the skin of animals ) can be transferred this way. If feasible remove any wall to wall carpeting. A vacuum with a HEPA filer will help to further trap dander in carpeting. Pets can be washed weekly with shampoo formulated to remove dander.
It is expounded that 11,000,000 Yanks have some form of food allergy. The symptoms of food allergy range from tingling in the mouth to swelling of the tongue and throat to more severe reactions that will essentially result in death.
Some with food allergies suffer the chance of an unbalanced diet because of the need to the need to duck particular kinds types It is suggested that working with a dietician to form a sound and healthy diet is best. Some adolescence food allergies leave with age. However, allergies to peanuts, fish, shellfish and nuts are regarded as lifetime allergies.
Most outbreaks of contact dermatitis result in skin outbreaks and hives which can be handled with over the counter antihistamines and topical creams.
Some Treatment for Allergies
Help Getting Rid of Allergies
The Atkins Grapefruit diet seeks to cash in on the popularity of the fad grapefruit diet and the less fad but still fad Atkins diet, although it has nothing to do with the Atkins estate or company. Here is some information that shows the diet may be a fraud, or at least misleading.
It’s a challenge to find clear cut information, such as a web site, for the Atkins grapefruit diet. Hard to find information is a pretty good tip off that a con job is being perpetrated. The Atkins grapefruit diet is purposely deceptive in its origin to convince people that it is a legitimate combination of two popular fad diets.
Does the Atkins grapefruit diet have anything to do with the actual Atkins diet? No, in fact the Induction phase of the Atkins diet is bereft of fruit, and there’s no mention of the grapefruit version on the Atkins web site.
The induction phase includes the following foodsâ sorry Atkins grapefruit diet, no fruit here:
An type of fish
Chicken, turkey and other fowl
All sorts of shellfish
Any meat such as beef or pork
Eggs cooked in any style including fried
All sorts of cheese
Vegetables
Any herbs and spices to make food more exciting
A variety of fats and oils including butter
Drinks low in carbohydrates such as diet soft drinks
Not a piece of fruit to be found. Later phases of the diet do allow fruit juice and even specifically mention grapefruit. But when compared to the amount of Grapefruit recommended on the Atkins Grapefruit Diet, again there is a disagreement.
The Atkins Grapefruit diet is a diet plan, not endorsed by the estate of Dr. Atkins, that plays on the popularity of the grapefruit diet and the Atkins diet name. Don’t look now, but it may not be what people hope. First of all it’s pretty difficult to find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan. Smart people know that when someone is perpetrating a deception, or a con, they will often gloss over facts.
The cup of grapefruit juice offered by the Atkins Grapefruit diet has 8 grams of carbs while the cup of grapefruit sections it mentions has 18 carbs. But the Atkins diet calls for no more than 7 grams of carbs in a day. That’s a direct contradiction of one diet to the other.
When they hear about the Atkins grapefruit diet people should naturally visit the Atkins web site to read more about it. When they found no mention of that diet on the site, a red light would go off and an alarm would sound.

Those who are allergic understand that allergy is one of the very few diseases which cannot be easily prevented. However hard you try, you tend to get stricken with your allergen every time. With countless of allergens ranging from pollens to milk, allergy is one of the most common diseases.
Some women have an allergy to male semen. Then again, some men have an allergy to the semen from other men and yet others are allergic to their own semen.
As you likely already know, allergies come in a number of different formats and those afflicted from allergies often have different symptoms. If you suffer from hives, oatmeal should be used. Oatmeal should be prepared with one cup of steaming water. Wait a few minutes, around thirty minutes, and then strain. The residual liquid can be applied to the skin and hives. A small paper towel or cotton ball will work.
There are several brands and types of air purifiers. You can purchase them at most home goods stores as well as online. And there is a model for every budget as well.
Causes Of Allergies
Having an allergy to certain types of food is common worldwide. In simple terms, any type of allergy including food allergies are reactions of your bodies immune system fighting the cause of the allergy in the first place.
Children are the pride and joy of their parents. They are the future and hope of our society. There is nothing more disturbing for parents than when their children become ill.
Skin Allergies are one of the most prevalent causes of skin conditions. Generally, they are caused by an immune system which becomes hypersensitive after exposure to certain substances which it recognizes as harmful.
A thorough house cleaning can help control symptoms. Once the allergens are removed you will no longer suffer sleep deprived nights or hazy mornings due to frustrating insomnia caused by your home allergies.
Once you have discovered the allergen that is causing your attacks it becomes a lot easier to treat and deal with your allergy.
Treatments
Allergies can make life absolutely miserable. Allergies can make you unable to go outside because you’re allergic to the grass, the leaves, the trees, the pollen, the pollution, or many other outside things that are just a part of life. Indoor allergies can prohibit you from living the life you want to as well.
Kids are often attacked by allergies and there are many treatments which will be helpful for you to control allergies in your children.
There’s a philosophic basis for acupuncture. The Chinese believe in an energy force called the Qi, which flows through the body near the skin.
There are millions of folks who have ringing in ears and who just can’t get relief. If the sounds are only occasional and not of a particularly high volume then you can probably just about put up with it, even although it’s very annoying.
All this depends on what region of the country you live in, as plants pollinate differently, according to their geographic locations.
There are many different types of allergies. Approximately 1 in 7 people are allergic to pollen. Pollens are small, egg-shaped male cells of flowering plants.
