Cat Allergies

Inevitably, as it may seems many people are allergic to cats and dogs but in truth its only 15 per cent of us according to the Humane Society of the United States, one of the reason that this issue matters to the HSUS, which is a nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C. for the protection of welfare for all animals, is that despite loving pets people often abandon them when they cannot cope with their allergic reaction due to their pets.

Test have shown that,in the case of cat allergy, these symptoms are essentially a reaction to the animal’s fur.To be more precise,it is a reaction to a mixture of shed hairs, cat’s saliva and tiny particles of shed skin. This almost invisible dander or dandruff, when floats in the air it triggers the response in individuals who have particular over sensitivity.

Aithough there are symptoms an allergic person experiences include runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and hives,if you develope these symptom when you are in close quarters with a cat or during actual contact, there is a good chance that you are allergic,However, there are other possible reasons for these symptoms,so don’t just assume its because of the cat.

Research has being carried out by the Parmaceutical Corporation in Cambridge Massachusette, on a cat allergy vaccine called catvax.Tests have all so in progress with human volunteers at the John Hopkins University in maryland to establish its efficiency.Unlike other allergy vaccines in the past, catvax promises to be permanently effective after only a few in jection and have no side effects.
